2010-11 Application is Ready!

The application for the 2010-11 academic year is now available. Please read all of the instructions very carefully.  Go to the "Apply" section to download it.  You will also need to download the waiver form to give to the church leader who writes the letter of recommendation for you.  The application, other required documents, and the letter of recommendation must be IN our mailbox by March 31, 2010. Applications and supporting documents that arrive after March 31 will not eligible for the awards.  Award decisions will be announced on June 30, 2010.

2009-2010 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

FES Winner--Loren Harrison

Loren

FESF is excited to introduce you to our Faith & Education Scholarship recipient.   Loren and her twin brother will be entering college this year.  She is from Connersville, Indiana and was baptized in 2002.  Loren is an active member of the Brookville Church of Christ and is part of their praise band.  During the past few years, she was involved as yearbook editor, the school newspaper and 4H. Loren is enrolled at The Art Institute of Indianapolis.  Loren will be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Website Design.  She chose the Art Institute because of the website design major and the ability to finish in 3 years with year round schooling.  She is looking forward to studying in an area she enjoys and working toward her career aspirations.

Her favorite movie is The Notebook, her favorite books are the Twilight series books, and her favorite author is Jodi Picoult.  

TESMS Winner--Megan Exline

Megan

FESF is excited to introduce you to our Tessie Eerligh Scharing Memorial Scholarship recipient.   Megan and her twin sister started college in 2009.  She is from Glouster, Ohio and was baptized in 2001.  Megan is an active member of the Glouster Church of Christ and was involved in youth group, VBS, and mission trips.  During the past few years, she ran track and cross country.  She participated in student council, yearbook editor, and her school newspaper. Additionally, she participated in Project MORE as a tutor and with the Red Cross with Blood drives.  Megan will be pursuing a bachelor's degree in journalism. While tentative about being on her own, she is looking forward to the adventure that is to come

Her favorite book is Pride & Prejudice, her favorite television show is The Office and her favorite author is Jane Austen.  

 

 

We are thrilled to have these young women as this year's scholarship recipients, and we ask you to join us in praying for their growth and success in the coming years!  Congratulations and God Bless you both!

We are pleased to announce that Megan Exline of Glouster, Ohio is the 2009-10 winner of the Tessie Eerligh Scharing Memorial Scholarship.

FESF is pleased to introduce you to our Faith & Education Scholarship recipient!  Josh is currently a freshman at Freed-Hardeman University.  He is from Arkansas and was baptized in 2001.  He has been involved in multiple mission trips, UNICEF and Lads to Leaders.  In high school, he was very involved in the school news magazine, and was editor in chief his senior year. He was a National Honor Society member and was recognized by the Arkansas Scholastic Press as the 2008 Writer of the Year.  Josh is hoping to have a research career in alternative fuels.    We are so proud to have him be the 2008/2009 recipient!

Fesf TESSIE EERLIGH SCHARING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT-JILL HORN

FESF is pleased to introduce you to our Tessie Eerligh Scharing Memorial Scholarship recipient!  Jill is a member of the Livonia church of Christ, and was baptized when she was 13 years old.  Jill is currently at the University of Detroit Mercy in a one year accelerated BSN Nursing program.   She has a bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian University and is looking forward to the path that God will take her down, including medical missions with the International Health Care Foundation and African Christian Hopsitals.  She chose UDM because of the school's focus on inner city and under-serviced popluations.  We are so thrilled to have her as the 2008/2009 recipient!

Congratulations to both of you and we are praying that God will continue to shine his light through your works and your education.

Tessie Eerligh Scharing Memorial Scholarship Winner

Img016 Shanna Jinkerson was born in 1988 and raised in Starkville, Mississippi, where she graduated with honors from Starkville High School in May of 2006.  She was active in both UNICEF and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America).  One of her greatest loves has been the youth group at the Starkville church of Christ.  With them, she participates in local service projects, West Tennessee Work Camp, mission trips to Honduras, and Lads to Leaders, as well as other fun and spiritual activities.  This fall, she will be starting as a freshman at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee.

Faith & Education Scholarship Winner

Picture_1 Miriam Drehsel was born in 1979 and raised in Heidelberg, Germany.  She is an Austrian as well as an American citizen.  After graduating from high school, she moved back to the U.S. in order to take care of her aging grandparents in Texas.  She returned to Heidelberg, Germany in 2003 and received a diploma as a German translator, before moving to Bulgaria in 2005.  During her time in Heidelberg, her main focus was helping  missionaries from the U.S., leading a home group and a teen camp.  She viewed each of these tasks as a step in preparation for ministry in Bulgaria, where she recently co-led a Christian boy and Girl Scout group, trained children's ministers, and helped establish a sponsoring program for needy children.  She has chosen to study psychology at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas in order to one day return to Bulgaria to counsel troubled girls.
