The 2009-10 Application is Ready!!!

The application for the 2009-10 academic year is now available. Please note that there a few small changes from the application last year, so be sure to read all of the instructions very carefully.  Go to the "Apply" section to download it.  You will also need to download a waiver form to give to the church leader who writes the letter of recommendation for you.  The application, other required documents, and the letter of recommendation must be IN our mailbox by March 6, 2009. Applications and supporting documents that arrive after March 6 will not eligible for the awards.  Award decisions will be announced on June 30, 2009.

Fesf TESSIE EERLIGH SCHARING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT-JILL HORN

FESF is pleased to introduce you to our Tessie Eerligh Scharing Memorial Scholarship recipient!  Jill is a member of the Livonia church of Christ, and was baptized when she was 13 years old.  Jill is currently at the University of Detroit Mercy in a one year accelerated BSN Nursing program.   She has a bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian University and is looking forward to the path that God will take her down, including medical missions with the International Health Care Foundation and African Christian Hopsitals.  She chose UDM because of the school's focus on inner city and under-serviced popluations.  We are so thrilled to have her as the 2008/2009 recipient!

Congratulations to both of you and we are praying that God will continue to shine his light through your works and your education.

Picture_1 Miriam Drehsel was born in 1979 and raised in Heidelberg, Germany.  She is an Austrian as well as an American citizen.  After graduating from high school, she moved back to the U.S. in order to take care of her aging grandparents in Texas.  She returned to Heidelberg, Germany in 2003 and received a diploma as a German translator, before moving to Bulgaria in 2005.  During her time in Heidelberg, her main focus was helping  missionaries from the U.S., leading a home group and a teen camp.  She viewed each of these tasks as a step in preparation for ministry in Bulgaria, where she recently co-led a Christian boy and Girl Scout group, trained children's ministers, and helped establish a sponsoring program for needy children.  She has chosen to study psychology at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas in order to one day return to Bulgaria to counsel troubled girls.
